Ilam cuts working hours at government offices, banks and insurers by two hours on 2 and 3 August
1 August 2026 | 3 months ago
Because of a continuing heatwave and in order to manage energy consumption, working hours at government bodies, banks and insurance companies in Iran's Ilam province have been cut by two hours for Sunday and Monday, 2 and 3 August 2026 (11 and 12 Mordad 1405). The decision was announced on Saturday, 1 August.
Under the decision, staff at these institutions across all of the province's counties will leave work two hours earlier than usual. Service utilities, medical centres, military and police forces, operational units and shift workers are exempt and will continue to operate normally.
The move comes alongside a meteorological service warning of severe heat in the south and west of the country. Shortening office hours is a standard tool for managing peak summer load on the power grid, an issue that this year sits alongside electricity curbs on industrial estates, recently eased from two days to one day a week, and bears on production schedules and banking services.
