Russian Deputy PM: Some Refineries Hit by Ukrainian Drone Strikes Have Resumed Operations
25 August 2026 | 2 months ago
Alexander Novak, Russia's Deputy Prime Minister in charge of energy issues and OPEC+ talks, said on Monday, Shahrivar 2, 1405 (August 24, 2026), that some Russian oil refineries damaged by Ukrainian drone strikes have resumed operations after repairs. According to Oilprice.com, citing Novak's remarks carried by Russia's Interfax news agency, the official said the situation is changing daily and fuel supply to the domestic market is expected to increase. The report said Russia has faced gasoline and diesel shortages since this spring, as repeated Ukrainian drone strikes, including on refineries more than 1,000 miles from the border, have knocked out many processing sites. The report added that Russia has turned to South Korea and India for fuel imports to offset the shortfall, and the country's diesel and gasoil exports this month have fallen to their lowest level in years.
