SATBA: building a 5 kW home solar plant costs 350 to 400 million tomans

Zohreh Olia, director general of the office of economic studies and financing at Iran's Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA), said on Saturday, July 25, 2026 (3 Mordad 1405), in remarks published by the Energy Ministry, that the investment cost of building a 5 kW household solar plant runs between 350 and 400 million tomans on the market. She specified that this figure applies to on-grid plants built without storage or a hybrid inverter, and that construction cost overall depends on the type of equipment and the method of grid connection.
She said this level of investment is economically justified given the income from selling electricity, and allows investors to recover their capital.
Olia also pointed to online channels set up to ease access to financing, saying SATBA-approved platforms including Mehrsan let applicants register a request, get advice, choose a suitable plant capacity and track the financing steps remotely. She said the facilities can be applied for in cooperation with credit-scoring platforms and by submitting a single cheque.
