Saudi trade surplus climbs to $6.9bn in May as oil exports rebound
26 July 2026 | 3 months ago
Saudi Arabia's merchandise trade surplus reached SR26.03 billion, about $6.91 billion, in May 2026. According to preliminary data from the General Authority for Statistics reported on Sunday 26 July 2026, the surplus widened 328.8 percent from a year earlier.
Merchandise exports rose 3.9 percent year on year to SR93.78 billion in May, while imports fell 19.5 percent to SR67.75 billion. Most of the improvement came from a rebound in oil exports, which climbed 19.5 percent from May 2025.
Oil accounted for 75.6 percent of total Saudi exports in May, up from 65.7 percent a year earlier. The rising oil share indicates the trade balance improved mainly through the energy channel, while non-oil trade remained weak.
