Abdali land crossing between Kuwait and Iraq reopens after drone attack
26 July 2026 | 3 months ago
The Abdali border crossing, the main land route between Kuwait and Iraq, has reopened. Iraq's state news agency reported the announcement on Sunday 26 July 2026, citing the country's border crossings authority.
The crossing had been temporarily closed after a drone attack on Thursday. The Kuwaiti army said the attack caused material damage but no casualties. It was not clear who launched the drones.
Abdali lies in Kuwait's northern Al-Jahra Province and is a key route for passenger and commercial traffic between the two countries. Its reopening restores overland trade flows between Kuwait and Iraq, at a time when land routes have gained importance amid disruption to maritime traffic in the region.
