South Korea's KOSPI rebounds on Tuesday after 'Black Monday,' up over 2% in morning trade
14 July 2026 | 3 months ago
South Korea's KOSPI index rebounded on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, after plunging 8.95% the previous day in a session dubbed 'Black Monday.' The index opened at 6,769 (down 0.56%) but quickly recovered, trading at 6,952 by 10:01 a.m. Seoul time, a gain of 2.14%.
Buying by institutional investors, which reached about 1.62 trillion won by then, drove the advance, with the semiconductor sector leading the recovery. Samsung Electronics rose 5.89% and SK Hynix gained 4.5%. The bounce after the near 9% drop was seen largely as bargain hunting, against a backdrop of worries over an escalating US-Iran conflict and fears of a peak in memory-chip prices.
