Spokesman for Iraq's armed forces says there is no evidence the attacks on Saudi Arabia were launched from Iraqi soil

The spokesman for Iraq's Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces on Thursday, 30 July 2026, rejected claims that the attacks on Saudi Arabia were launched from inside Iraqi territory, and called on those making the claims to produce evidence.
Sabah al-Numan told Iraq's official news agency that there is no evidence such attacks were carried out from Iraqi soil and that no party has so far presented any. He added that the security establishment is focused on drawing up an integrated security plan to prevent a recurrence and to fully preserve Iraqi sovereignty, and stressed that official security forces are exclusively responsible for security matters and will not allow any weapons to exist outside the framework of the state.
Al-Numan also said the US and Saudi strike on Popular Mobilization Forces bases disrupted the Iraqi authorities' investigation into the allegations. Iraq is Iran's largest non oil export market, and rising tension there exposes the trade and banking channels between the two countries to disruption.
