Spot gold holds between $4,010 and $4,025 on Wednesday, near its lowest level since November 2025

29 July 2026 · 2 months ago

Spot gold was little changed on Wednesday, 29 July 2026 (7 Mordad 1405), trading in a narrow range ahead of the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision. CNBC reported the spot price at $4,023.91 an ounce as of 9:00 a.m. US Eastern time; Trading Economics data the same day showed $4,009, down 0.47% from the previous session. That level is near gold's lowest since November 2025.

The Federal Reserve announces its rate decision on Wednesday, 29 July at 2:00 p.m. US Eastern time. The prevailing analyst expectation is a hold in the 3.5% to 3.75% range for a fifth consecutive meeting, though the market assigns a significant probability to an increase at the September meeting.

Gold is roughly flat over the past month and about 22% higher than the same period a year earlier. The world gold price is one of the two main drivers of domestic gold and coin prices in Iran; the other is the exchange rate.
