Spot gold slips to about $4,081 on Monday as markets await US inflation data

13 July 2026 | 3 months ago

Spot gold slipped nearly 1% to about $4,081 an ounce on Monday, July 13, 2026, down 0.96% from the previous day and a second straight session lower, even as oil prices jumped.

Investors stayed cautious ahead of the US June consumer price index, due Tuesday, July 14, a reading that could shape the path of Federal Reserve interest rates and the value of the dollar. Spot gold is down about 5.3% over the past month but still up roughly 22% from a year ago.

Gold and coin prices in Iran are set by both the global ounce and the rial exchange rate, which makes the direction of the global ounce a key driver of the domestic market.
