According to a report by Boursenews.ir published Thursday, September 17, 2026 (Shahrivar 26, 1405), a ceremony marking the start of subscription for Iran's first foreign-currency investment fund, named Mana Mellat, was held with Economy Minister Seyed Ali Madanizadeh, Bank Mellat CEO Farshid Farrokhnejad, and Securities and Exchange Organization chief Hojatollah Seydi in attendance. Madanizadeh said the fund could help channel some foreign-currency savings that had exited the economic cycle back into investment and production, and is meant to give investors a tool to manage foreign-exchange volatility risk. Farrokhnejad said Bank Mellat serves as the fund's registrar and foreign-currency operations manager and guarantees its liquidity, while Bank Mellat's investment banking arm manages the fund; the fund is structured as an open-end (issuance and redemption) vehicle, letting investors enter or exit without needing to find a buyer or seller in a secondary market. He said the fund's pooled resources could be used, through instruments such as foreign-currency murabaha bonds, to finance export-oriented projects and provide working capital to export-focused manufacturers. Parallel reports from Donya-e-Eqtesad and Ecoiran said this marks the first time the dollar has entered Iran's capital market through an official, exchange-regulated instrument.
