17 September 2026 · 20 days ago
Tehran's free market dollar rate fell from the previous day to 229,090 tomans on Thursday, September 17, 2026 (26 Shahrivar 1405), according to Donya-e-Eqtesad. Sahmino's own pricing data, recorded at 11:29am the same day, put the dollar at 228,700 tomans, down 0.79 percent day over day.
The dollar's recent decline has coincided with lower toman prices for domestic gold and coins, even as the global per ounce gold price rose over the same period. Currency market volatility in recent weeks has been shaped by regional developments, including Strait of Hormuz tensions and Persian Gulf oil export disruptions.
