The UK Maritime Trade Operations agency (UKMTO) said early Saturday, October 3, 2026 (11 Mehr 1405), that it had received a report of an incident 4 nautical miles east of Oman. According to Khabaronline, citing IRNA, the master of a crude oil tanker reported that an unidentified projectile struck the vessel's port side. All crew members are reported safe, no environmental impact has been reported so far, and authorities are investigating. UKMTO advised vessels to transit the area with caution and report any suspicious activity. Donya-e-Eqtesad separately reported the same UKMTO notice earlier that morning. The incident is the latest in a series of attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman since Iran-US tensions escalated, including an attack on another tanker in the Strait of Hormuz reported on Thursday, October 1.
