Tehran prosecutor's intervention unblocks a major importer's accounts, freeing imports of 200,000 tonnes of animal feed and staple goods

Following the intervention of the Tehran prosecutor's office and sustained follow up, the problem facing one of the largest importers of animal feed and staple goods has been resolved. The company's bank accounts had been frozen because of outstanding claims and overdue facilities, seriously disrupting its commercial activity. The news was published on Tuesday 28 July 2026 (6 Mordad 1405) and covers imports of 200,000 tonnes of animal feed and staple goods.
Animal feed inputs such as maize, barley and soybean meal are the main inputs to the meat, poultry, egg and dairy production chain, and an interruption in their import passes through to consumer prices with a lag of several weeks. Continuity of supply for these items is one of the variables affecting food group inflation in the months ahead.
