Iran's foreign minister discusses the Strait of Hormuz in phone calls with his Omani and Saudi counterparts
28 July 2026 · 2 months ago
Iran's foreign minister said he had held telephone conversations with the foreign ministers of Oman and Saudi Arabia. According to reports, the calls centred on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and maritime tensions in the region. The news was published on Tuesday 28 July 2026 (6 Mordad 1405).
The Strait of Hormuz is the main export route for Persian Gulf oil, and the state of shipping through it has been one of the determinants of the risk premium in global oil prices in recent weeks. Any sign of easing maritime tension is typically accompanied by a fall in that risk premium, a pattern also visible in the same day's trading, which took Brent into the $87 area.
