Tehran Stock Exchange Index Ends Day Up Only 8,000 Points After an Intraday 93,000 Point Surge

Tehran's stock market saw sharp swings on Sunday, Shahrivar 1, 1405 (August 23, 2026). According to Donya-e-Eqtesad, the main index (TEDPIX) climbed to 6,154,000 points in the first half of trading, a roughly 93,000 point intraday gain, before heavy selling in the second half erased most of it. The index closed up just 8,292 points (0.14 percent) at 6,069,888. The equal weight index rose 12,611 points (0.73 percent) to 1,730,272. By the close, 460 symbols were positive and 362 negative; stocks ending with buy queues fell to 245, while 139 closed with sell queues. Buy order value totaled 8,920 billion tomans against 2,356 billion tomans in sell orders.
