Tehran Stock Exchange Index Ends the Week Up 4.7 Percent, Equal-Weight Gauge Gains 4.1 Percent

The Tehran Stock Exchange main index gained 365,091 points over the week ended Wednesday, 15 Mehr 1405 (7 October), rising from about 7,766,000 to 8,131,091 points, an increase of roughly 4.7 percent, Donya-e-Eqtesad reported. The equal-weight index climbed from about 2,066,000 to 2,150,437 points, up roughly 4.1 percent. The equal-weight gain suggests the advance was not confined to large, index-heavy tickers.
The week began under selling pressure: on Saturday, 11 Mehr (3 October), the main index ended only about 22,000 points higher after an early jump of more than 130,000, and on Sunday, 12 Mehr (4 October), it fell about 24,800 points. On Tuesday, 14 Mehr (6 October), the main index rose about 187,000 points (2.4 percent), with 603 buy queues against 11 sell queues. On Wednesday, 15 Mehr (7 October), it gained about 154,000 points (1.93 percent) to set a fresh record for the second day running. Equity trading resumes on Saturday, 18 Mehr (10 October).
