Tehran Stock Exchange Index Touches 6.1 Million Points for the First Time, Then Pares Gains

23 August 2026 · 2 months ago

According to Donya-e-Eqtesad, published Sunday, Shahrivar 1, 1405 (August 23, 2026), Tehran Stock Exchange's main index (TEDPIX) crossed the 6.1 million point psychological threshold for the first time in early trading today, climbing as high as 6,154,000 points. Increased selling later in the session pared back part of the gain, and mid session data put the index around 6,120,000 points, up less than one percent on the day. Per Sahmino's own price data, TEDPIX traded at 6,079,125 points as of 11:29am, up 0.29 percent. The equal weight index outperformed, gaining about 1.5 percent.

Donya-e-Eqtesad reported signs of caution in trading: the gap between closing prices and last trades widened across a significant share of symbols, pointing to limited selling pressure in the session's second half, though buy order value still exceeded sell order value and automaker stocks saw notable buy queues. One notable signal was continued outflow from fixed income funds, with net flow of negative 2.1 trillion tomans, against 800 billion tomans of real money inflow into equities and equity funds.
