Tehran Stock Exchange Slides 2.4 Percent Under Heavy Sell Pressure

Tehran's stock market came under heavy sell queue pressure from the opening minutes of trading on Sunday, September 20, 2026 (29 Shahrivar 1405). According to Donya e Eqtesad, the TEDPIX main index fell 166,854 points (2.24 percent) to 7,281,988 by 10:10 a.m., and according to Sahmino's own data, the decline had widened to 180,410 points (2.42 percent) by 11:30 a.m., putting the index at 7,268,428. The equal weight index fell 2.15 percent to 1,944,087 and the Farabourse main index (IFX) fell 1.86 percent to 56,496. By 10:10 a.m., only 123 symbols were trading higher against 699 lower, with 613 sell queues against just 78 buy queues. Trading value stood at 13,431 billion tomans, low compared to recent sessions, and net cash outflow from stocks, pre emptive rights and equity funds reached 2,711 billion tomans.
