Eghtesad Online, citing Tabnak on Monday, 27 July 2026 (5 Mordad 1405), reported that a check of the official train ticket sales systems shows the price of a five star train ticket on the Tehran to Khorramshahr route has reached 3,160,000 tomans.
According to the same report, a five star Fadak train ticket from Tehran to Kermanshah is offered at 2,300,000 tomans, and a four star Tehran to Khorramshahr ticket at 1,510,000 tomans for a one way journey. Ordinary six berth train tickets on the same routes are listed at about 700,000 tomans.
On that basis, the outbound cost for a family of four travelling Tehran to Khorramshahr on a four star train comes to 6,040,000 tomans, and a return rail journey to close to 12 million tomans, a figure that excludes insurance, exit duties, transport inside Iraq, accommodation and food. The Arbaeen pilgrimage is one of Iran's largest seasonal passenger movements, and its transport costs feed into the household spending basket in Mordad.
