Eghtesad Online, citing Tasnim News Agency on Monday, 27 July 2026 (5 Mordad 1405), reported that a comparison of cash subsidy disbursements in Khordad and Tir 1405 shows the government's fiscal burden for covering the fourth through ninth income deciles reached 135,494 billion rials in Tir, against 135,490 billion rials in Khordad, an increase of about 4 billion rials.
According to the data, the number of eligible household heads rose by 16,727 in Tir, from 15,639,132 to 15,655,859. Over the same period, however, the total number of covered individuals rose by only 383, from 45,175,061 to 45,175,444.
The report says the gap between the growth in household heads and the very small increase in total individuals reflects household splitting in Iran's welfare information database, meaning children moving out or households dividing into smaller units. In both months the funds were distributed through 28 participating banks across the country.
