The Tehran Stock Exchange's main index opened sharply higher in the first hour of trading on Wednesday, 5 August 2026 (14 Mordad 1405). According to live data as of 09:56 Tehran time, TEDPIX rose 122,870 points, or 2.33 percent, to 5,400,215 points, against a previous session close of 5,277,345 points.

The bulk of the move came in the opening minutes: the index, which had been flat at the prior day's level until 09:00, jumped to 5,399,919 points in the 09:05 window and then traded in that range, reaching 5,406,001 points by 10:00, a gain of 2.44 percent.

The session coincides with reports of progress in negotiations to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The Tehran bourse trades Saturday to Wednesday from 09:00 to 12:30, and these figures reflect mid session levels rather than the close.
