The Bandar Khamir to Bandar Abbas road reopens tonight after war damage in Hormozgan
26 July 2026 | 3 months ago
The governor of Khamir county said on Sunday, 26 July 2026, that the Bandar Khamir to Bandar Abbas road, which had been damaged during US strikes, would reopen that night through the work of road maintenance crews.
The route lies in Hormozgan province along the northern shore of the Persian Gulf and is one of the overland access roads to Bandar Abbas, Iran's largest commercial port.
Reopening it matters for the supply chain: Bandar Abbas and the Shahid Rajaee port complex handle a large share of Iran's essential goods imports and non-oil exports, and severed land access raises the time and cost of moving cargo from the port into the country. Transport infrastructure in the southern provinces has been damaged repeatedly in recent weeks, and the government has ordered faster reconstruction and the activation of alternative routes.
