The free market dollar retreated from its recent record back into the 191,000 toman channel

2 August 2026 | 3 months ago

Iran's currency market turned lower on Sunday 2 August 2026 (11 Mordad 1405). Donya-e-Eqtesad reported the same day that the free market dollar had fallen from the previous day to 191,970 toman. The live board at data source recorded the US dollar at 11:50 that day with a buy rate of 189,200 toman and a sell rate of 191,100 toman.

The pullback follows a run in recent days that carried the free market dollar into the 194,000 toman channel and to a record high several times over the past two weeks.

On the other side of the market, the remittance rate moved the opposite way: the sell rate for remittance dollars at the Currency and Gold Exchange Centre was recorded at 153,337 toman at 08:16 on Sunday 11 Mordad, 0.24 percent above the previous day. An official rate rising while the free rate falls narrows the gap between the two markets.
