Tourist arrivals to Türkiye fell 4.02% in June, a deeper drop than expected
31 July 2026 | 3 months ago
According to Turkish Statistical Institute data published on Friday 31 July 2026, the number of tourists arriving in Türkiye in June 2026 fell 4.02% compared with the same month a year earlier.
The decline was both steeper than May's 3.58% fall and worse than the market expectation of a 3% drop. It marks the second consecutive month of annual decline in tourist arrivals to Türkiye.
The arrivals data is read alongside the sector's revenue figures: Türkiye's tourism revenue in the second quarter of 2026 came in at $15.9 billion, down 2.6% from a year earlier. Tourism is one of Türkiye's main sources of foreign currency earnings and a factor in its balance of payments and the lira's path; Türkiye is also one of the principal travel and trade destinations for Iranians.
