David Perdue, the US ambassador to China, said in remarks reported by EcoIran, citing Entekhab, on Friday, 3 Mehr 1405 (September 25, 2026), that Donald Trump told Xi Jinping at their Thursday meeting in Washington that any Chinese help to Iran, direct or indirect, whether intelligence, parts or military equipment, is "completely unacceptable." Perdue added that Washington had delivered the same message clearly to Beijing weeks earlier.

Trump described the meeting with Xi as "useful and very constructive," but according to Donya-e-Eqtesad, citing Reuters, it produced no sign of progress on disputed issues including trade, Taiwan and the Iran war, and China's offshore yuan was unchanged at 6.721 per dollar on Friday.
China is Iran's largest oil buyer and largest trading partner, so Washington's stance on that relationship bears directly on Iran's exports and its access to foreign currency.
