30 July 2026 | 3 months ago

Data from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey published on Thursday, 30 July 2026, showed the bank's gross foreign exchange reserves fell to 62.396 billion dollars in the week ending 24 July. The figure stood at 65.427 billion dollars in the week ending 17 July, meaning reserves declined by 3.031 billion dollars in a single week.

The decline spans two weeks. Foreign exchange reserves were reported at 67.120 billion dollars in the week ending 10 July, so roughly 4.7 billion dollars has been drawn down over the two weeks. The measure refers to gross foreign exchange reserves held or controlled by Turkey's central bank and excludes gold. The highest level recorded for this series was 115.144 billion dollars in December 2013.

The Turkish central bank has kept its policy rate at 37 percent in July 2026. Turkey is one of Iran's significant trading partners, and the state of its currency reserves and of the lira matters to Iranian traders active on the Turkish trade route.
