Mehr reports that two ships carrying livestock feed, 126 thousand tonnes in total made up of soymeal and feed corn, docked at the same time at Shahid Beheshti Port in Chabahar (20 Mehr 1405, October 12, 2026). Siamak Sarabandi, director general of livestock support affairs for Sistan and Baluchestan province, said the cargoes are meant to meet the needs of the country's livestock and poultry industry and will be sent straight through to destinations set by the head office of the state Livestock Support Company.

Stressing Chabahar's geographic position, he said the arrival of such cargoes shows the region's potential to become the main hub for trade in the country's south-east. He said strengthening the port's operational and logistics infrastructure will not only speed up operations but also allow it to take far larger volumes of strategic-reserve cargoes in future. The remarks are quoted on the basis of the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad's announcement, and no independent figures have been published.
For the market, feed inputs such as meal and corn are a main cost in producing poultry meat, eggs and dairy, and the simultaneous arrival of two ships at a southern port points to a supply route that does not run through the Strait of Hormuz.
