Mohammad-Sadegh Azimifar, deputy oil minister and managing director of the National Oil Refining and Distribution Company, announced that outsourcing of aircraft refuelling centres, after the necessary studies, has been approved in three clusters. According to EcoIran's report on Monday, 12 October 2026 (20 Mehr 1405), the decision implements article 105 of the Seventh Development Plan law and aims to reduce the operating role of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company, cut operating costs and raise productivity.
He said the centres will be handed to qualified companies after technical and financial annexes are prepared and legal procedures are completed; no timing or transfer value was given. Azimifar added that a programme to outsource the distribution company's other remaining activities and parts of the fuel supply chain, including oil depots, is also under review, to separate operating duties from sovereign duties.
