Citing the Associated Press, IRNA reported that the legislation extends the 1996 Iran Sanctions Act and imposes new sanctions targeting Russian officials, banks and the tanker fleet that helps sustain Russia's energy exports. It also requires Trump to impose tariffs of up to 100 percent on major buyers of Russian oil and gas, including China, unless they have significantly cut their imports of Russian energy.
