The US State Department announced on Thursday, October 1, 2026, that it had imposed new sanctions on networks in the Middle East, Asia and Europe that it says help Iran evade sanctions. According to a Mehr News Agency report citing Al Jazeera, the sanctions target networks linked to Iran's rail, automotive and metals sectors. The State Department said it is working with several countries to shut down what it called "illegal revenue channels allegedly used by Iran." The report did not name the specific individuals, companies or countries covered by the measures.
