Early on Friday, July 17, 2026, in a sixth consecutive night of strikes, US forces hit several bridges and other infrastructure in Iran's southern Hormozgan province. According to news networks, the strikes appeared aimed at cutting road and rail links between Bandar Abbas, Iran's main port, and routes leading to Tehran. Iranian state television reported at least 7 people killed.
The same wave also damaged a maritime control tower at Chabahar port on the Gulf of Oman, a port that lies outside the Strait of Hormuz and is operated jointly with India.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it struck dozens of targets in its latest wave.
