According to Al Jazeera's report published on September 18, 2026, Warren Buffett, the 96 year old American investor, formally stepped down as chairman of Berkshire Hathaway and immediately became chairman emeritus. His son, Howard Buffett, succeeded him as chairman, according to the report.
Arzdigital confirmed the departure in a report published on September 20, 2026, noting it came after more than 60 years of Buffett's executive leadership at Berkshire Hathaway. Buffett, long one of the most vocal bitcoin skeptics in traditional finance, had repeatedly described the digital asset as lacking intrinsic value, even as bitcoin's market value has since grown past $1.6 trillion.
