Welfare ministry makes connection to the national food coupon system mandatory for all contracted stores

Iran's Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare announced on Wednesday 29 July 2026 (7 Mordad 1405) that connection to the national food coupon system is now mandatory for every store contracted under the electronic food coupon scheme.

The decision was announced amid growing dissatisfaction among stores over delays in settling amounts owed to them. Unified connection to the national system routes transaction records and store settlements through a single channel.

The electronic food coupon scheme is the mechanism for distributing part of the basic goods subsidy to households, and its performance bears directly on the household consumption basket under inflationary conditions. The Statistical Centre of Iran has reported point to point inflation for Tir 1405 at 87.9 percent.
