Khabaronline's Khuzestan service reported that work has begun on a sugar refining, sugar cube and rock candy project in an Andimeshk industrial park. He said some of the sugar produced in Khuzestan currently leaves the province for processing. Placing the processing unit near the source of raw materials could cut transport costs and keep value-adding activity in the area. The development is the start of construction, not the plant's commissioning; the report does not specify a start-of-operations date or the new facility's capacity.
