Kiana, the Tehran Stock Exchange ticker for Kian Financial Group, closed at 8,110 rials on Monday, August 31, 2026 (9 Shahrivar 1405). That is 465% above the 1,435 rials the stock traded at exactly one year earlier, on September 2, 2025 (12 Shahrivar 1404). Two days before that, on Saturday, August 29 (7 Shahrivar), the stock closed at 8,160 rials, its highest level in 12 months. That record came exactly two weeks after shareholders approved a 180% capital increase for the holding company, funded from retained earnings rather than cash injections, meaning existing holders were not diluted. This report is not investment advice; it lays out figures recorded in Sahmino's own price feed and in Codal, Iran's corporate disclosure system.

Background

Kiana's one-year path, per Sahmino's own price archive, started gradually and accelerated in recent weeks:

DateClosing price (rials)Event
Sept 2, 2025 (12 Shahrivar 1404)1,435Start of the one-year comparison
July 19, 2026 (28 Tir 1405)4,965Before a brief month-end halt
Aug 18, 2026 (27 Mordad 1405)7,310Last trade before a five-session halt
Aug 26, 2026 (5 Shahrivar 1405)8,040Reopening, up nearly 10%
Aug 29, 2026 (7 Shahrivar 1405)8,16012-month record (intraday high 8,280)
Aug 31, 2026 (9 Shahrivar 1405, today)8,110Latest closing price

Notably, the stock was halted for five sessions from August 19 to 25 (28 Mordad to 4 Shahrivar), roughly ten days after the August 9 extraordinary assembly. Sahmino cannot establish a definitive link between that halt and the capital increase's registration; what is certain is that the stock jumped, without any drop, when trading resumed.

The capital increase: who gained what

Per the minutes published on Codal, Kian Financial Group's extraordinary general meeting was held on Saturday, August 9, 2026 (18 Mordad 1405), and approved raising the company's capital from 3,575 billion rials to 10,000 billion rials, a 180% increase. The entire 6,425 billion rial increase was funded from the company's retained earnings (سود انباشته), not from shareholders' cash. That means holders who did not buy new shares were not diluted either: their ownership share stayed the same, just split across more share certificates.

Today's numbers: valuation and trading flow

Based on the interim financial statement for the twelve months ending June 21, 2026 (31 Khordad 1405), Kiana's net profit reached 8,037 billion rials and its return on equity (ROE) stands at 38%. The stock's P/E ratio is now 10.15, versus a 7.34 average P/E for the "Investments" (سرمایه‌گذاری‌ها) sector it belongs to, meaning the market prices Kiana roughly 38% richer than its peers. Only 9% of its shares are free-floating, a figure that means any shift in demand shows up in the price more than it would for a widely held stock.

Today's trading volume reached 12,741,499 shares, about 2.5 times the recent 20-session average. Retail flow, however, turned negative today, unlike on the record day (Aug 29): individuals sold 325,538 more shares than they bought (an estimated 2.6 billion rials in net selling), even though there were only 111 buy orders against 849 sell orders. In other words, a handful of large buyers, averaging about 863 million rials each, absorbed a much larger crowd of small sellers averaging about 116 million rials each. On the record day, August 29, individuals were net buyers of about 2,814,006 shares (an estimated 23 billion rials).

Drivers

This report does not establish definitive causation; what follows is a hypothesis, not a conclusion.

A non-dilutive capital increase. When a capital increase is funded from retained earnings rather than cash, markets sometimes read it as a management signal of confidence in future profitability, since the company converted profit into permanent capital instead of a cash payout.

Thin float. With only 9% free float, the volume that has entered the market in recent days (more than double the average) takes far less to move the price than it would on a widely held stock.

The holding company's assets under management. Kian Financial Group's own website states it manages over 100 trillion tomans in assets across more than 14 subsidiary companies; growth in the value of those subsidiaries' portfolios could explain part of the parent stock's rise, though this report cannot attribute a precise figure to that channel.

Outlook

If the thin float and current demand persist, the stock's swings in either direction could stay larger than the market average. Alternatively, if today's volume signals the start of profit-taking by recent buyers, convergence toward its moving averages (now 6,881 rials for the 20-day and 5,645 rials for the 50-day) is another plausible scenario. Neither path is forecast here; these are simply two scenarios worth watching.

Risks and uncertainties

  • Unproven halt causation: this report does not assume the five-session halt from August 19 to 25 was necessarily related to registering the capital increase.
  • Thin float: with only 9% of shares free-floating, this stock's liquidity is more limited than a widely held name's.
  • Annual profit growth: because of an unusual year-earlier comparison base, this report does not publish an annual profit-growth figure, to avoid a misleading number.

Bottom line

Kiana's stock is up 465% over the past year and hit a 12-month record of 8,160 rials two days ago, on August 29, exactly two weeks after shareholders approved a 180% capital increase from retained earnings that diluted no one. Still, the stock's thin 9% free float and today's reversal in retail flow suggest this rally is more fragile than one to follow without watching closely. This report is not investment advice.

What to watch

  • Whether the uptrend continues or stalls in coming sessions, and whether retail flow turns positive again.
  • How the price reacts to its 20 and 50 day moving averages if it corrects.
  • Any fresh material disclosure from Kian Financial Group on Codal.
  • Live price and board events on Kiana's page on Sahmino.
