1,085 Trillion Tomans in Taxes Collected in the First Half of 1405, 38 Percent of the Budget Target

Mehdi Movahedi Beknazar, spokesman for Iran's National Tax Administration, said about 1,085 trillion tomans (1,085 hemat) in taxes were collected in the first six months of the Iranian year 1405 (late March to late September 2026), equal to 38 percent of this year's approved tax revenue. Mehr News Agency published his remarks on Sunday, 27 September 2026 (5 Mehr 1405).
Approved tax revenue for 1405 is set at 2,820 trillion tomans, a substantial increase from the 1,820 trillion approved for 1404. According to the spokesman, about 688 trillion tomans were collected in the first half of 1404, around 37 percent of that year's approved figure.
Movahedi Beknazar attributed the first-half shortfall against half of the budget to the usual pattern of the year: low collection in Farvardin because of the holidays, and the shift in the filing deadline for individual and corporate returns from Khordad and Tir to Shahrivar in the past year or two, which pushes part of collection into later months.
