Mohammad Hadi Sobhanian, head of Iran's National Tax Administration, said at a press conference on Monday, 27 July 2026 (5 Mordad 1405), that tax revenue collection in the first four months of the current Iranian year reached 577 trillion tomans, against 396 trillion tomans in the same period last year, a rise of 46 percent. The briefing was reported by ISNA and carried by Eghtesad Online.
Sobhanian added that the growth rate of tax revenue in the first four months of last year, measured against the year before, had been 32 percent. He put collections as a share of the full-year budget at 20.5 percent for the first four months of this year, against 21 percent over the same period last year.
He said tax refunds in the first four months of this year reached about 29 trillion tomans, against 11 trillion tomans in the same period last year, a rise of 150 percent. The tax chief attributed the performance to the systematisation of the tax apparatus and the rollout of the taxpayer system, and said filing deadlines for tax returns had been extended in light of conditions in the country. Sahmino reports these figures as stated by the head of the tax administration at that press conference.
