281 Kilometres of Main Roads and Highways Open in Sistan and Baluchestan

According to Mehr News Agency, 281 kilometres of main roads and highways in Sistan and Baluchestan province were opened on the morning of Thursday, September 24, 2026 at a ceremony in Chabahar attended by Roads and Urban Development Minister Farzaneh Sadegh. The minister said the projects were built to improve access between parts of the province, ease traffic bottlenecks, shorten travel times and make it easier to move passengers and freight.

Houshang Bazvand, deputy minister and head of the Transport Infrastructure Construction and Development Company, said more than 1,116 kilometres of the country's coastal corridor lie in the province, and that the Jask to Chabahar coastal route and the east-west corridor from the Mirjaveh border to Khuzestan are development priorities. With Chabahar port and its eastern borders, Sistan and Baluchestan is one of Iran's key provinces for goods transit.
