4 Tons of Illicit Gold Bearing Soil Seized in Tabriz, Two Arrested

Tabriz's police commander said on Sunday, 25 Mordad 1405 (August 16, 2026), that officers had discovered an unlicensed gold extraction workshop and more than 4 tons of gold bearing soil in the city. According to Ecoiran, citing Tabnak, Colonel Mohammad Nemati said officers from the 24th Sardroud police station identified the workshop through intelligence work and police operations and arrested two suspects in connection with it.
He said the suspects were handed over to judicial authorities after a case file was compiled. Tabriz's police commander added that combating the smuggling of goods, including gold, remains a top priority for the city's police.
