Global gold hits session high Monday evening as the US dollar weakens

Global gold (XAU/USD) reached $4,427 an ounce on the evening of Monday, August 17, 2026, up about $51.5 (1.2%) from the previous day's close, with an intraday high of $4,427.66. The figures were reported by tgju.org and are consistent with Sahmino's own feed, which showed $4,418 in the same window. Silver also gained in tandem, rising close to 2% to around $65.9 an ounce over the same period.
In the domestic market, one gram of 18 karat gold reached about 19,229,200 rial (roughly 19 million 229 thousand toman) today, up about 190,000 toman from the previous day. The rise coincided with a relatively weaker US dollar and rising tensions over the Strait of Hormuz.
