A 20% discount is announced for converting free-zone vehicle plates to national plates

The export development director of Iran's free zones announced on Saturday, 3 Mordad 1405 (25 July 2026), a 20 percent discount on converting vehicles carrying free-zone plates to national plates.
Free-zone plated vehicles enter under different customs procedures and import duties, and their unrestricted movement across the country depends on converting the plate and paying the difference. Cutting that cost by 20 percent reduces part of the financial burden of plate conversion for owners of these vehicles.
Iran's car market has been volatile in recent weeks, with factory pricing and open-market prices diverging on several models, so changes to the rules and costs of vehicle entry and registration affect supply and demand in part of this market.
