According to Donya-e-Eqtesad, citing Fars News Agency and published on Monday, 17 August 2026 (26 Mordad 1405), a tanker owned by a UAE based company was stopped near Qeshm island while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Maritime navigation data showed the vessel was halted while using Iran's designated transit corridor. Ecoiran separately reported the same day that an Emirati tanker had been stopped in the strait.
Donya-e-Eqtesad said that under Iran's arrangements for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, tankers are required to use the Iranian designated route, pay a service fee and obtain Iran's permission. The report came as Iran and Oman continue working to finalize an agreement on facilitating safe ship transit through the strategic waterway.
