Another tanker was struck by a projectile in the waters between Iran and Oman on Tuesday, 3 Shahrivar (August 25, 2026), the UK Maritime Trade Operations reported, as carried by Germany's DPA news agency on Thursday, 5 Shahrivar 1405 (August 27, 2026), a day after a similar attack near the coast of Oman. According to Oilprice.com, citing maritime tracking firm Windward, the vessel was a Liberian flagged Aframax tanker carrying 704,000 barrels of jet fuel, which eventually reached the port of Fujairah.
Data from tracking firm Kpler, cited in the same report, showed only five commodity vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, well below the 15 vessel average of the past ten days. Windward said that as of Wednesday, 11 inbound and 6 outbound crossings had been recorded in the strait, of which 6 were tankers; the data showed about 65 percent of oil exports through the strait are bound for China.
