UK Maritime Body: Four Tankers Targeted in Strait of Hormuz Over 48 Hours

The UK Maritime Trade Operations body (UKMTO) said in the early hours of Monday, October 5, 2026 (13 Mehr 1405), that four tankers have been targeted in the Strait of Hormuz over the past 48 hours. According to Ecoiran, citing Fararu and CNBC, the crew of one tanker damaged on Friday, October 2 (10 Mehr), were forced to abandon the vessel. Another tanker targeted on Saturday, October 3 (11 Mehr), briefly drifted before being towed toward the port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates. UKMTO also said at least two other vessels were targeted over the weekend in waters near Oman and Iran. The incidents are the latest in a series of attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz in recent weeks.
