Apple's market value touches 5 trillion dollars for the first time, the second company in history to reach the mark

29 July 2026 | 3 months ago

Apple's market capitalisation touched 5 trillion dollars for the first time during trading on Tuesday, 28 July 2026 (6 Mordad 1405). With that move Apple became the second publicly traded company in history to reach the mark; Nvidia was the first, reaching 5 trillion dollars in October 2025.

The milestone came just a day after Apple overtook Nvidia in Monday's session, with a market value of about 4.94 trillion dollars, to reclaim the title of the world's most valuable public company. Apple shares have risen nearly 19 percent over the past month, while Nvidia's have gained about 0.4 percent over the same period.

Analysts read the switch as a reflection of investors rotating toward companies with more restrained capital spending on artificial intelligence, against growing concern about the returns on heavy AI infrastructure investment, the same concern that has weighed on chipmakers' shares in Asia and on Wall Street in recent days. Apple is due to report its quarterly earnings after the close on Thursday, 30 July.
