Separately, Oman's Foreign Ministry, as reported by Mehr News Agency, said its foreign minister, Badr Albusaidi, met Araghchi in New York, and the two exchanged views on ongoing consultations to secure maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and guarantee freedom of movement for ships in support of global trade and energy flows.

Traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has been one of the main drivers of global oil prices and of expectations in Iran's currency market in recent weeks.
