Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul spoke by phone on the evening of Monday, August 10, 2026 (19 Mordad 1405). According to Khabar Online and Donya-e-Eqtesad, Araghchi briefed his German counterpart on Iran's ongoing talks with Oman to establish a safe shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, saying the insecurity imposed on the strait stems solely from US and Israeli military aggression against Iran. He said securing the strait requires an end to what he called aggressive actions and unlawful interference by the United States, including a naval blockade. Germany's foreign minister had called for constructive talks to end the war and reopen the strait. Both sides stressed the importance of continued diplomatic consultations at various levels.
