US President Donald Trump said in an interview with Real America's Voice on Monday, August 10, 2026 (19 Mordad 1405), that he was in the process of negotiating with Iran, describing Iranian negotiators as very cunning and shrewd. He added that Iranians sometimes agree to something and then tell the media they never did. According to Mehr News Agency, the remarks came as disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and rising global prices continue to keep public pressure on the US administration high. A day earlier, Trump had claimed the Strait of Hormuz was currently open and that a large number of vessels were passing through it.
