Yemen's Armed Forces Claim Responsibility for Drone Strike on Aramco's Jazan Refinery in Saudi Arabia
9 August 2026 | 2 months ago
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for Yemen's armed forces, said in a statement on Sunday, 18 Mordad 1405 (August 9, 2026), that the forces had struck Saudi Arabia's Aramco refinery in Jazan with a drone. According to Ecoiran, citing ISNA, he described the strike as a response to violations of the airspace of Yemen's Saada and Hajjah provinces by Saudi drones, and said the intended target was hit precisely.
The statement came after Saudi Arabia's energy ministry said earlier the same morning that a fire at one of the facilities of the Jazan refinery had been brought under control with no casualties reported so far. The Jazan refinery, with a production capacity of 400,000 barrels per day, has been offline since July 27 (5 Mordad) following an earlier strike by Yemeni forces.
