Asset tokenisation enters the toolkit for financing Iran's public infrastructure projects
28 July 2026 | 3 months ago
The executive vice president said on Tuesday, 28 July 2026, that the government is reviewing ways to finance national infrastructure projects, including drawing on state asset monetisation, the issuance of debt securities, and newer instruments such as tokenisation.
He stressed continued follow-up on the president's order to accelerate completion of the country's major projects.
The appearance of tokenisation alongside conventional tools such as bond issuance and asset monetisation points to policymakers' interest in distributed-ledger-based financial instruments for infrastructure funding. The economy minister had earlier said the current budget law provides for the issuance of about 10,300 trillion rials in debt securities.
